Web Development

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) enables the user to gain universal access to web-based applications. Knowing HTML gives one the ability to improve and enhance function and flexibility of one's web pages. Essentially everything populating the World Wide Web uses HTML at some level. A platform-independent programming language, HTML's markup structure serves as a basis for many other programming languages.

Course Highlights

The student will build a web page through classroom lecture and hands-on HTML programming exercises. Lab time reinforces the material covered in the lecture. Material presented includes the following:


  • Basic HTML commands and functions
  • Define and control tables and forms
  • Use HTML generating programs
  • Test hypertext documents in a web browser program
  • Use animated images, as well as transparent images
  • Use the HTML extensions of CSS and DHTML
  • Manipulate image maps
  • Manipulate form objects
  • Create a home page with embedded images and hyperlinks
  • Briefly touch on Cascading Style Sheets and proprietary software available.


    Duration

    This course is 45 hours of combined lecture and lab work.

    Recommended to anyone interested in any aspect of web development and who wants to work as web designer and developer.


    Prerequisites

    Some basic knowledge of computer applications is preferable.
