Leadership for High School Students

Leadership is not as important as people think it is, it is more important.

Leadership is at the core of the success of the human being. The human being is a social animal. Everything we do is coordinated. Without that coordination, we would be very poor indeed. The world population of humans would be a small fraction of what it is and the existence of those few humans would be miserable.
Followership and leadership complement each other. The two are both essential elements of coacting with other human beings. They are essential to human prosperity and even survival. The skills overlap. Good leaders make good followers and good followers make good leaders.
Education programs do not teach leadership very well. Every teacher hopes the examples of the best students will be followed by others. Coaches hope leaders will emerge who will help the teams work well together. But leadership is almost never taught as a subject of importance regardless of context and circumstances.

No matter what role a person is in, what stage a person is at or anything else, leadership matters. The leadership one gets from others and the leadership one gives to others are always important. They make the difference between energy well spent and energy wasted. Leadership is often the difference between success and failure.
